Finding Safety in Love and Compassion - June Astrology

June Alignments Affecting the Brain and Menopause

June brings a softer, more compassionate energy surrounding the brain, nervous system, and the transitions happening within the body. With several major alignments touching themes of thought patterns, self-worth, emotional safety, and the body itself, this month asks us to slow down and listen more deeply instead of continuing to push ourselves past our limits.

On June 1, Mercury enters Cancer. Mercury governs the intellect, communication, and the nervous system, while Cancer is associated with the chest, breasts, stomach, and diaphragm. Mercury in Cancer slows the mind down, offering space for compassion and empathy while guiding us deeper into recognizing where our thoughts are truly coming from. The brain and gut are intricately connected, so when the body feels depleted, inflamed, overstimulated, or unsafe, the mind often follows with racing thoughts, anxiety, brain fog, and mental exhaustion. Cancer reminds us that our thoughts are not just coming from the brain. They are also coming from the body. Mercury invites us to listen and ask - what is my body trying to tell me?

Then on June 13, Venus enters Leo, bringing warmth, courage, and a fierce kind of self-love. For women in transition, this is a very supportive alignment for loving yourself through change instead of resisting it. Menopause can be incredibly challenging on the brain and nervous system. Hot flashes, mood swings, exhaustion, forgetfulness, feeling disconnected from your own body… it can be so much for the mind to process. Sometimes the brain convinces us we are broken, overreacting, or “too much,” but none of this is true. There is tremendous growth happening beneath and above the surface, and that kind of transformation requires an exceptional amount of grace. Venus in Leo gives us permission to stop shrinking through the process. It asks us to love ourselves boldly and unapologetically, despite the changes happening within us. So many women long for simpler times during menopause, but deep down, we know we cannot go backward. Venus in Leo is a call to move forward in love instead of fear, embracing the wisdom that comes with deep transition.

The New Moon in Gemini on June 15 shines a light on the mind itself. Gemini energy moves quickly, and for an already overstimulated nervous system, this can feel mentally loud and scattered. This New Moon asks us to become more aware of the stories we are repeating internally and the information we are constantly feeding the brain. Not every thought deserves our attention. Not every fear deserves our energy. Sometimes healing begins when we stop believing every anxious thought that moves through us.

On June 19, Chiron enters Taurus, where it will remain until April 2027. Chiron is known as “the wounded healer” and represents the fragmented, traumatized, or unseen parts of ourselves that are asking for healing. Taurus represents stability, worth, security, and the physical body itself. During this transit, many of us will be confronted with the ways we have tied our value to productivity, appearance, money, or how much we can endure before breaking. The brain, especially during menopause, often tells us we must push harder, do more, and be more in order to feel safe - because in the past, that's how we operated. But Chiron in Taurus is not interested in survival through overexertion. It asks us to redefine safety entirely. True security does not come from external validation or constantly proving ourselves worthy. It comes from learning to feel safe within our own body, our own presence, and our own heart. Taurus is ruled by Venus, so even while these deeper wounds surface, love remains present as the medicine and safety net.

As the Sun enters Cancer on June 21, we also welcome the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, and a powerful turning point energetically. While the world around us is filled with light, the Solstice also reminds us to turn inward and honor the light within ourselves. Cancer energy reminds us that the nervous system heals through gentleness, not force. The body cannot thrive while constantly living in survival mode. This season asks us to soften our relationship with ourselves and recognize that rest is not weakness, it is wisdom. So pull out the hammock, and enjoy relaxing in the warmth of the sun!

The month closes with the Full Moon in Capricorn on June 29, illuminating the pressure we place upon ourselves to hold everything together. Capricorn energy can be incredibly disciplined and resilient, but it can also convince us that our worth is measured by how much we accomplish, produce, or carry alone. For women moving through menopause and major transitions, this Full Moon asks us to release the belief that we must constantly push past our own needs in order to be valuable. You do not have to earn your rest. You do not have to prove your worth through exhaustion. The brain may try to convince you otherwise, but your body already knows the truth. Trust it.
