How Astrology Affects Our Health: The Houses - The Second House

The Second House - The House of Security - Ruler = Taurus
In the last blog in this series, we explored the First House: the house of the self. This time, we move into the Second House: the house of self-worth, money, possessions, security, values, and resources. At its core, the Second House reveals how we create stability in our lives emotionally, physically, and materially. While the First House speaks to identity and the body as a whole, the Second House speaks to what helps us feel safe, nourished, grounded, and supported. From a health perspective, this house often reflects how our relationship with security, stress, finances, and self-esteem can influence the body.
I’m writing this blog right on time (I love how these intuitive alignments happen) as we enter Taurus season. The Second House is traditionally linked to Taurus energy, which governs themes of nourishment, embodiment, and sustainability. It is also connected to the Throat Chakra, highlighting the importance of expression, truth, and receiving. The body areas associated with this house include the throat, neck, thyroid, vocal cords, jaw, mouth, tongue, teeth, and ears. Health themes tied to the Second House can include thyroid balance, metabolism, eating habits, nutrition, blood sugar regulation, jaw or neck tension, voice suppression, stress around money, emotional eating, and scarcity patterns stored in the body. As we move through Taurus season, notice what patterns are surfacing for you. This energy can be especially activating for those dealing with autoimmune conditions, as many holistic perspectives connect autoimmune issues with long-term voice suppression and unexpressed truth.
The Second House also carries a powerful emotional connection to health because it reflects how safe, supported, and valued we feel in our everyday lives. When this house is out of balance, it can show up as chronic stress, feeling unsafe, overworking to prove your worth, weak boundaries, self-neglect, or unhealthy relationships with money and resources, such as hoarding or overspending. It may also appear as difficulty receiving help, lack of proper nourishment, or living in a constant state of survival mode. Over time, these patterns can affect both emotional well-being and physical vitality. When the Second House is healthy and aligned, it supports confidence, strong boundaries, financial peace, steady energy, self-respect, and a deeper trust in the body. It reminds us that true wellness grows when we feel secure, nourished, and rooted in our own values.
As we move through Taurus season, I invite you to notice where old cycles may still be repeating in your life and ask yourself how you can choose forward movement instead of familiar patterns. Each time these energies return, they offer another opportunity for awareness, healing, and growth. If you notice that every spring you “treat” yourself with excessive shopping sprees, or on the other end, withdraw and restrict yourself, it may be a sign that Second House themes are asking for your attention. Awareness is the first step; action is the next. It doesn’t have to be dramatic or all at once. In fact, the Second House often responds best to slow, consistent change. Ask yourself: what small shifts can I make today to better support my self-worth, stability, and sense of safety?
Money and assets are not separate from this conversation. They are extensions of how we value ourselves and what we believe we deserve to hold. The Second House teaches that wealth is not only about numbers in a bank account, but about the capacity to receive, manage, and sustain what supports your life. Your possessions, income, talents, and resources all mirror your inner relationship with worthiness. When you heal scarcity, honor your gifts, and build from a grounded place, money becomes less about survival and more about stewardship, freedom, and creating a life that reflects your true values.
The Second House ultimately reminds us that health, wealth, and self-worth are deeply intertwined. How we care for our bodies, manage our resources, receive support, and value ourselves all shape the foundation of our lives. When this house is nurtured, we create stability from the inside out, building a life rooted not in fear or scarcity, but in trust, nourishment, and sustainable growth. By tending to both our inner world and outer resources, we strengthen the sense of security that allows us to thrive.
